God I Hate Tourists
Sep. 13th, 2006 05:17 pmIn my first full day in Siem Reap, and have a much fuller understanding of why people hate Americans (or people they think are Americans) abroad.
Just because you are in another country where you do not speak the language, you are not granted the right to treat the citizens of the country you are a guest in as if they are children, stupid, or worse, in existence solely to cater to your desires.
I never thought I'd be sympathising with the natives after Vietnam.
That said, I am absolutely in love with Cambodia and will most assuredly be making a repeat visit to this country. And I haven't even been to Angkor Wat yet!
That will be all.
