God I Hate Tourists

In my first full day in Siem Reap, and have a much fuller understanding of why people hate Americans (or people they think are Americans) abroad.

Just because you are in another country where you do not speak the language, you are not granted the right to treat the citizens of the country you are a guest in as if they are children, stupid, or worse, in existence solely to cater to your desires.

I never thought I'd be sympathising with the natives after Vietnam.

That said, I am absolutely in love with Cambodia and will most assuredly be making a repeat visit to this country. And I haven't even been to Angkor Wat yet!

Its sad how the "American" attitude of "kiss my feet(or ass)" exists in other countries. Especially when its tourists. And I thought Europeans were the snobby type. Ya ever wish you had the reserved right to bitch slap rude and selfish people from any background?

It is all cool bran420_7. The Cambo. will deal with anything rude "American tourists" can throw at them. After all these are the people who survived the KR.

The sad thing was, is that they didn't "deal" with it, they were unflaggingly polite and helpful. Which reflects wonderfully on them but left me wishing someone, anyone had been around to put the tourists in their place.

Oh man, Cambodia is awesome. I was expecting to like Vietnam so, so much more but I just fell in love with Cambodia the first day I was there. I'll definitely be back at least once more. Here's hoping you'll make it there sometime in the near future! :)
