T minus 1 days until the end of Vietnam
Sep. 9th, 2006 06:05 pmAnd I'm ready for it. The country has been fun, but the group I'm with is a nightmare. Example:
Girl #1: (twirls hair) I don't wanna go to lunch. I'm not hungry. I'm just gonna have my Snickers bar that I bought earlier.
Girl #2: (dramatic sigh) Yaaah. I told myself I'd like, lose weight on this trip but I just keep eating. Let's go to the beach and get tan!
Girl #3: I'm not using sunscreen today. Yay!
Girl #4: Let's go get ice creams.
Girls nos. 1-3: Okay!
Me: ...
Needless to say, I've been doing a lot of exploring by myself. Walked to Po Nagar the other day. About 4 kilometers round trip, but I got to see non-tourist areas of Vietnam (the lack of access to such has been my major regret about this tour) and the return put me on the streets just as the schools appeared to be getting out, which meant that I was mobbed by tons of K-12 kids waving and calling out "Hello, hello!" as I walked by. Very cool stuff.
Tomorrow I hop on the bus and go to the Cambodian border.
That will be all.
