It's great to see my tax dollars at work.
Sep. 23rd, 2004 11:25 pmThe US Homeland Security Department recently deported Yusuf Islam (that's Mr 'Morning Has Broken' Cat Stevens to you folk junkies) and barred his reentry into the country.
Kerpow! Take that, terrorism!
What really peeves me about this is not so much that it makes my country and by extension, me, look incredibly stupid in the eyes of, well, just about everyone, but that the (justified) outcry against the government's actions is only occurring because of who Islam was. What about all the other people who must surely have been deported or denied visas, but who don't have a famous music career, and thus aren't worried about by the masses?
Man, it sucks watching your country turn into a police state.
That will be all.

1I also read another reason may have been due to Israel refusing him entry back in 2000, because they claimed he gave charity money to Hamas. Proof of this is has never been provided, as far as I know.
