Culinary Madness!
I was bored this Sunday, so I went and spent about $60 at the local housewares store. I now own a fish/yakiniku grill, a proper Chinese wok (none of this Americanised-wok business), and a proper cedarwood basin for making sushi rice. This last is a special accomplishment, because when I tried to buy one of these from the Korean grocers in town, I was told that it cost upwards of $400 and there was no possibly way to get one. (Of course, this probably had something to do with the fact that if I started making my own sushi, I'd stop buying theirs.)
Kaigai Ryokou!
I'm going to Korea tomorrow, which is highly exciting. I plan on eating bibimba, yakiniku, and visiting lots of temples. It'll be interesting to see what Buddhism looks like in the country that gave it to Japan. Oh, and I'm going to do my part to improve the economy by buying an electronic dictionary and a bunch of manga, and teaching myself to read it.
Defensive, aren't we?
I was watching the news the other day. Unsurprisingly, the situation in Iraq was being discussed. The Japanese anchor said, "I'm not surprised it's degenerated to this point. Vietnam, Somalia, Afghanistan - in fact, I can't think of any country where the US has tried to install a democracy and succeeded.
Um, try JAPAN (You know. Your own fucking country). Dumbass.
Beach party!
I've been to two of these recently. The first was with an awesome German dj. The second was last Saturday. I spent most of the night dancing, then ran around in the ocean in the pitch dark, and was in bed by midnight. Good times.
That will be all.
