akujunkanUnpacking is proceeding apace. In the past three days, I've walked well over 30km whilst trekking about to the city hall, NTT center, DoCoMo center, various appliance stores, and so forth, in order to update my address and "Hi, I'm foreign but allowed to live here!" documentation. All of this in blistering sun and temperatures at or over 100 degrees. I have a nice tan now, and I've spent an average of $5/day on bottled drinks during the journeys. I should be updated now.
Yesterday I killed my first roach at my new apartment. It was one of the nasty, three inch roaches. It's only been five days, she weeps. I really, really hope that it came along for the ride in my luggage, and that it didn't bring any eggs or breeding females with it. Cross your fingers.
Managed to get one window to open, slightly.
My washer is so old that it isn't compatible with the outlets and water mains in my new apartment. I headed down to city hall to inform them personally, and the head of my department there is quite kind, couldn't believe how old the thing was, and immediately began looking for a new one. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to pay to have the old one disposed of, but still, when one is marching about for hours a day in 100-degree weather, one wants to wash one's clothing regularly.
