Tokyo, Yo.
Jun. 13th, 2004 03:33 pmIt's official. I can never return to the Oaks again. Tokyo is kicking is kicking so hard it's unbelievable. I still like other Japanese cities better, but is it ever nice to be back in civilization where the streets aren't deserted at 8pm and people within ten years of my age are a common sight.
Yesterday I did an unholy amount of shopping (to the tune of about $200, although I haven't been keeping track). I managed to walk away from Shibuya with Martyn Bennett's Grit, the new PJ Harvey CD, Cran's Lover's Ghost (which cost $30, but I was about to order it from the States for the same price), and the CD of a group called 月刊プロレスラ, who I saw live and loved immediately.
Oh, and then there was Shibuya mandarake. The FFVII and FMA shelves were pretty badly picked over (that'll teach me to get to the store at 6pm on a Saturday), but I managed to pick up a few Suikoden I djs, a Higuri You and so forth. The idea was to have finished Suikoden II in time for the dj shopping, but that didn't happen, thanks to my jank city hall TV (due to be replaced again this coming Friday). To my dismay, I forgot to get the cool looking FFX dj. Oh well. There's still 3 other Mandarakes to visit before I'm done.
Last night we went for Thai food and then to an awesome, awesome dance club. More on this later, but it's 4pm here and I have to go eat lunch.
That will be all (for now).
