May. 28th, 2004 06:42 pmI really don't mind teaching 4-5 lessons a day. Really. No, what I do mind is teaching 4-5 lessons a day when the jte has an average of 30-120 seconds of time five minutes before the lesson in question to devote to explaining to me what she wants me to base the lesson on.
Because honestly, I don't care who the hell you are or how intelligent you are, NOBODY can pull 50 minutes of productive class time including grammar introduction; game; worksheet; review sheet; listening, speaking, and writing drill out of their ass in five minutes. Not even the people who have been teaching for ten years (and have no damn excuse not to know better). Sure, I can stay after work and do it, but nobody's giving me time off during the day to socialise, nap, and read during those two to three hours when I could be planning lessons, but can't, because you can't be bothered to find the time to tell me what you want when I'm being paid to do it. And no, 'Something from pages 20-55' is not telling me what you want (or if it is, you have no right to bitch about what you get later).
That will be all.
