I was busy studying Gaidhlig when I heard someone laughing at the desk across from me. Nothing out of the usual there.
Then the teacher who sits there stood up and started punching the laughing student. He wasn't joking - this kid is going to be bruised. Then the teacher shoved the kid into the wall and spent a good five minutes screaming at him.
I'm. Pretty. Freaked. Out.
What this teacher did was illegal. Moreover, it was scary. I don't know what the kid did (the teachers' accents get pretty thick when they're angry or excited and I have a hard time following them). But, wow.
I like this teacher. He's almost always laughing, and he helps me study kanji. I just. This is the first time I've ever seen a teacher hit a student, and it's pretty damn scary.

on 2004-02-05 01:05 pm (UTC)The weirdness is that this teacher is a really calm, easygoing guy. I don't know what the kid did to make him that angry.
As for reporting it, there were about 20 other teachers in the room at that time, so I'll leave that to their discretion. They know the ropes and I don't. I just hope I never see anything like that again.
