Here I am, ensconced in a Toyama hotel that I booked all on my lonesome. My Overall Life Proficiency ranking was pretty high today - negotiated my way out of all sorts of room charges, got myself dinner, hooked up my phone and computer and managed to get net access for both, beta read, and figured out the intricacies of the exercise room.
And then I went to the sauna/sentou. Instead of key or coin lockers, the lockers at this sentou are combination locks. You put your possessions in, enter a four-digit code, and lock the thing. Easy, non?
Heh. Not for yours truly, who locked up clothes, yukata, and towels before realising that it might just be a good idea to try the lockers out before locking away every wearable item in my possession. Of course, as soon as the door clicked shut, I knew I was in for trouble, especially since, while the directions on how to lock the locker were very detailed and explicit, there were no directions whatsover on how to unlock it.
Sure enough, when I exited the sentou, I could not get the locker open. There was no way I had forgotten my code, and no way that I could have entered it incorrectly. The man at the front desk figures it may have something to do with the fact that I selected the numbers from bottom to top instead of top to bottom, but neither he or the four other women who helped me get the thing open are certain.
A good time was had by all.
That will be all.
