I finally bought Minekura Kazuya's Stigma last night - mostly because there's only about 8 pages of Saiyuki in this month's Zero Sum and dammit, I need my fix. I have a hard time reading any of Minekura's non-Saiyuki manga; she suffers from the my-characters-look-the-same-no-matter-what-series-i'm-drawing syndrome that afflicts so many mangaka. I just can't get into Bus Gamers or Wild Adapter because it's too much like watching the Sanzou-ikkou cosplay, and I experience a vague moral outrage upon seeing "Hakkai" slouching about in a yakuza suit, chainsmoking, or "Sanzou" being quiet and polite.

So it took me two or three goes to get into Stigma. But man, what a great book. I really wish it was an ongoing series. As with all good stories, you're never entirely sure when and why you started caring about the characters, but dammit, you do. There's just this sweetness to Tito and Stork that really appeals to me (while my darker side screams, "Chanslash! Chanslash! Surely the kid'll be a teenager soon..."). And the noirish/apocalyptic elements are really intriguing, probably because Minekura only makes oblique references to them throughout the book.

I'm thinking about doing a trans/longer summary when I have more time (drinking at Charlie's house now calls).

Oh, and speaking of, I just realised I still have the KnMM vol.24 and Gaiden summaries sitting on my harddrive. I'll post them today or tomorrow. I mean it this time.

That will be all.
