The Top Ten of 2010.

Out of curiosity I decided to check in with my mp3 player and see which albums I listened to the most last year--sort of my 'best 10 albums in '10.' (Although not all of them were necessarily released this year and I'm only counting English-language ones.)
1) Florence + the Machine - Lungs
Souixsie and the Banshees aren't cutting albums anymore, so thank god Florence is here to do it for them.
2) The Thermals - Personal Life
The best album of 2010, hands down. The Thermals are one of the few bands out there that can change their sound every album but still sound like themselves.
3) Rasputina - O Perilous World
To tide me over during the long, long wait for Sister Kinterhook.
4) M.I.A. - Arular
The release of /\/\/\Y/\ made me remember how much I <333 this album. (Incidentally, I see Amanda Palmer just ripped on M.I.A. in the latest issue of Spin, further proving the irrelevance of Amanda Palmer.)
5) Ghostland Observatory - Robotique Majestique
One of the best 80s albums cut in the 21st century. Damn you, DC for selling out their show before I had a chance to get tickets.
6) Peaches - I Feel Cream
I've been feeling Peaches since 2002.
7 Lady Sovereign - Jigsaw
Why Lady Gaga is famous when Lady Sovereign isn't will forever remain a mystery to me. At any rate, this is one of best pop albums of the past few years.
8) Girl Talk - Night Ripper
The Girl Talk album that best conveys the sheer awesomosity of his live show. Damn you, DC for selling out both his shows before I had a chance to get tickets.
9) TV on the Radio - Back catalogue
My own TVotR playlist composed of Staring at the Sun, Dreams, Blind, Young Liars, Wolf Like Me, Blues Down Here, DLZ, and Lovers Day, which I listen to over. And over. And over.
10) Kinji In Store Play
Not technically on my mp3 player, but it may as well be because two years later it's still blaring over the loudspeakers of virtually every clothing store, shoe store, coffee house, and bar I enter.
That will be all from 2010. Have a great New Year, everyone!
