So, I turned in the first of my two Master's theses today.

Surprisingly, I feel more down than anything else. There is no going back now.

Also, I think it would help were the office to just publish the effing schedule for our oral defense already.

That will be all.

No wonder you haven't been posting. But why two? I guess I'm not surprised, you seem like the overachieving type. Good luck with both!

Two theses because I'm earning two separate master's degress. I don't think it's overachieving so much as insanity coupled with an idea that sounded a lot better in theory than it is in practice. But thanks!

Let me guess, you wrote the one your adviser thought you should write and then the one that you felt more comfortable/knowledgeable writing? Because that would make sense.

Also, congratulations on being so damn awesome. *hugs*

Nope, I wrote the one that my "advisor" thought I should write, but I also have to write one for the degree I'm earning from American University. Luckily, they let me choose my topic.

O RLY? Well, shit, at least one of them will be worth something to you (because I remember you not being happy with one of them). But still, you're kind of crazy amazing you know. Most people have difficulty writing one and here you are writing two!

I hope you plan on taking a vacation after this is all said and done...

One of two? *pats* you'll need a good week for yourself after this, and you'll be saying "it was worth"

Mucho prop-age on your inevitable success.

LOL, I think your prop-age helped. The defense went much better than I'd expected. Cheers!

Hurray! That makes me happy. Now I have to summon the intestinal fortitude to give a presentation on Virginia Woolf like I don't think she's a rambling insane person who couldn't write her way out of a taco shell. Congrats, again!

VW is one of those authors I keep meaning to read but who keeps getting pushed waaay back down the list for books that I'm actually interested in. Doesn't help that she was active in a time period whose writing style just grates on me.

I read To The Lighthouse, (if by read I mean I read about half of it, gave up and downloaded the cliff notes [yes, me]) and to paraphrase Mark Twain, I want to dig her up and beat her upside the head with her own shin bone, then tie rocks around her waist and throw her back into the River Ouse, along with a copy of every other book she wrote. But she was cremated, so there goes that fantasy.

On that note, would you want my copy when you come back? If you thought you'd read it someday, I'd give it to you.

Wow, that bad? I find myself intrigued despite the niggling feeling that I should know better. I may just have to check it out. But if you can sell your copy for $$, by all means, do so. I'm sure there will be plenty of nigh unused copies in the library.

I'll see how much I can get for it. Giving it to someone who may want to read it may be more satisfying than the maybe $5 I could get for it. However, allow me to say that when discussing it with one of her enthusiasts, it is interesting, but I personally cannot pull the same level of symbolic bullshit out of a "novel" that is only a novel due to length, and not due to there being any form of tension or interesting plot or whatever. I can't dig on the whole stream of consciousness thing, it seems to me to be a sign of someone who can't make a story work in a non rambling way.
