...for cutting 100% of California's budge for domestic violence programs.

Which just goes to show you yet again that rich white people have no idea what it's like to be poor and helpless, nor do they particularly give a fuck in many cases.

That will be all.

...

What do you say in the face of such "compassionate" conservatism? It just defies belief that so many of America's poor still believe that the republicans govern with their (the poor's) interests in mind.

Right, and the fact that Ah-nuld ran through the typical republican "foible" (http://www.arnoldexposed.com/arnold.htm) checklist long before he became involved in politics, alas.

He really is terminator... of poor people's hope.
Sorry for the bad pun but there is no such a thing as coincidence in this life.
On the more serious side, could you please tell me HOW did California ended up in this situation? because we are listening news that it was Arnold's fault because he implemented many help programs and that was the cause (along with the problem brought by banks)

No, not bad at all. I wish I could make jokes in Japanese but I'm not good enough yet!

As far as I understand, California's population is responsible for this situation. There are a lot of liberal people in California (musicians, artists, gays, etc.) but California also has a lot of very, very, very RICH people...and those people tend to vote republican (and *vote*--a lot of liberal people complain about politics a lot but never actually vote in elections...it is one of the biggest weaknesses of liberals in America). So that is why you can have people like Nancy Pelosi and Arnold Schwarzenegger voted into office in the same state.

Does my explanation make sense? I'm not sure I'm explaining it terribly well.

Not that I want to defend The Governator, but California's ridiculous ballot initiative system is a big part of the problem...and they've been trying for most of the year to get a budget going. OH I am definitely not defending that douche...those are ridiculous funding cuts. But california is a fucked up state. The people want the government to do everything, but they don't want to pay for it. They scream democrat and vote in a republican governor. They have literally one of the longest Constitutions in the world...not just for a state but in comparison to other countries. The citizens voted down all the referendums that would have allowed for them to choose what got cut.

But still, Fuck him. I hope they were illegal.

See, I'm not sure it's the same people screaming Democrat who are voting in the governator. It's easy to forget how many fucking rich douches live in California (or own at least one house there, which equals voting rights if I remember correctly)...and as personal experience has taught me, a lot of liberals talk big but can't be bothered to get off of their skinny organic-eating asses to *vote.* Which of course hands elections right to the rich fucks. (And I speak from personal experience here. You remember all those tales about my aunt and uncle? They live in San Fran, and actually believe that Abu Ghraib and waterboarding "make America safe.")

But you're right; from what little I've heard about California's ballot process...that is some messed up stuff right there. I mean, this is the state whose system allows Mormons in Utah to decide whether gay people in California can legally marry or not. >.

exactly. when I see them screaming democrat, I'm refering to the national election. You're probably correct about the rich fucks being the only ones going out on off year elections.

I love it. A raise in the sales tax to hit poor and underprivileged people in order to finance leisure for the sheltered classes who still have homes after the financial meltdown.

You know, as I sit here in a country with a 5% flat sales tax and that provides me--a foreigner--with public single-payer insurance, coming home to those ARCs seems less and less tempting...

Yup. And major cities are looking at millions to BILLIONS in short falls. Like how the new budget thet they hummed and hawwed over was going to use STATE money to pay for INDY overspending. Namely, the stupid Lucas Oil Stadium.

...Erm, correct me if I'm wrong, but if it has the word "oil" in its name, shouldn't that company have been well capable of paying for it on its own?

Anyone?

Bueller?
