Today's Picture from Sunday the 24^th is of:


persimmon seeds and peanuts. They're a common variety of otsumami or sakana, or snacks one eats with beer. (Edamame are probably the most well-known variety of otsumami in the States.)

As you can see, the persimmon and peanuts come in little individually-wrapped packages. Tastewise, they're a mix between salty and (what is to Japanese people) spicy. Anyway, they're good stuff; anyone who hasn't eaten them before should try to get their hands on some.

So like, I've never gotten them in a pack (just with my beer), so I didn't know it was made of persimmon seeds! Which is kinda funny, because I don't like persimmon, but I do like this snack. Hypocritical, or just confused?

Mmmm....seeds and legumes....I must have them. BTW...our local grocer has greatly expanded the international foods; much, MUCH more Japanese treats.

JESUS CHRIST WHY DOES THIS ONLY HAPPEN AFTER I'VE MOVED OUT OF TOWN!?!?

Like, remember how FW/SB got Borders and B&N only after I went to the Academy? And we got Bishops only after I went to DC...and it went away when I came back home.

With mark-up we can't afford as mach as we'd like, but I'm excited that the variety is available.

Don't hate me.....FW got a Half-Priced book store. Which is where they also carry 1st ed. and signed copies of various books.
