Today's Picture: 116

Yes, I haven't posted a TPic in about two weeks--I've been that heinously busy. I'll probably be posting a good deal of them this week, if not even today. Why? Well, the answer is tied to today's picture: Flu Day Week.

For those of you on the flist who can't read Japanese, this is a screencap of an email sent to me by the uni informing me that the 都 government has issued an order shutting down every school in the city in response to the city's first case of swine flu. And they won't reopen for a week (at least; I anticipate further closures if more cases turn up in the interim).
Reasons why this is a good thing: it'll be nice to get a long break after my Hell Week last week. Also, campus being closed means the cafe on campus where I work is closed, which means I won't spend 12 hours shut up in the basement next week.
Reasons why this is a bad thing: students are supposed to remain in their places of residence for the duration. Aside from the fact that I'm working 16 hours this weekend, I would run out of food long before Thursday if I followed this directive to the letter. Furthermore, how the fuck am I supposed to do any research for my thesis (the first draft of which is due on 7/20, BTW) without being able to go to a library, archive, or bookstore? Students are also forbidden from setting foot on campus, which is where I left all my materials last night. And although not having to do the campus job is nice, the cut to my budget is not (especially since pay increases on a sliding schedule depending on how many hours I work a week; something they never told me and something I'm glad I discovered before asking for a cut to my hours!).
And finally, I'm about 10 years older than the average Rits student. Ain't no usetard (even if it is a 都-usetard and not your garden variety office usetard gonna) tell me I'm grounded to my Rectangle. Imma go see some temples! (Although I must remember to leave my student ID at home.)
That will be all.
