TP is finally back on track, after an Intrawebs-less vacation, followed by a host outage, followed by photoshop suddenly deciding that it would no longer run on my computer (before deciding that it would). Anyway, today's picture is of:


Japanese bread. Twelve U.S. dollars worth of it, in fact.

Japanese sandwich bread is this disgusting, spongy, limp stuff, with a consistency so bland and texturless you know the flour has had all its nutritional value processed right the eff out of it. Luckily, the flour used in Japanese snack breads fares a bit better. In this picture we see (from the upper lefthand corner): rolls with some sort of generic cheese melted on top, sugared donuts (although they're more like Chinese donuts, not western-style donuts), dessert bread with caramel jelly filling, and dessert bread with sweet cream cheese.

I know exactly when to hit the supermarket to get them half off.

Anyway, more photos will be coming soon and regularly (assuming everything continues to cooperate).

Oh man, the cream cheese ones are unquestionably my favorites, especially since it's so difficult to get dairy *anything* in Japan...

Yum....now I want a cream cheese danish. Closest I can come to up here.

Actually, I think the ones in my picture are Japan's version of cheese danishes. This country has a long history of reworking Western dishes with Japanese *cough* sensibilities;-)
