Today's Picture: 015 (February 9, 2009)
Feb. 11th, 2009 11:46 pmIt appears that my USB drives really aren't functioning with my camera--I was able to dl all the photos I've taken over the past three days on the uni computers. Drat. At any rate, "Today's Picture" from three days ago is of:

karaoke! This is what a typical karaoke box looks like. Yes, that's right: karaoke in Japan involves neither singing in front of every stranger in the bar, nor complete strangers singing shitty C&W music in frontof the entire bar. Instead you get a private room with a table, couches, and sometimes a stage.
You choose the songs you want to sing from compendia that resemble city phonebooks, or more recently, via remote control hooked up to a central database. The selection is EPIC: I've sung Pixie songs, indie J-Rock, pretty much the entire Bowie catalogue and Daft Punk. There are two main competing systems: Cyberdam and Joy Sound. I like the latter because it calculates how many calories you've burned singing your songs.
That will be all.
