BBC World News just showed some outtakes of Palin's first interview with ABC anchor Charles Gibson.

I was struck by one thing--and I'm asking all of you to confirm this for yourselves when you see the clips--the way it was filmed.

Palin's handlers are so terrified of her incompetence that the entire interview appears to have been filmed from three feet away, with Palin facing away from the camera at a forty-five degree angle.

Seriously, think about this. Think about the last time you saw an interview where there were no close-ups of the subject's face, of their reactions to questions and facial expressions as they spoke. Not only can viewers not see Palin's eyes during the interview, they can't even see her mouth or even her nose.

It's pretty outrageous, to be sure, but it also gives me hope that the Republicans are so terrified of their chosen candidate's potential to fuck up--even under highly controlled circumstances--that they are going to these lengths.

That will be all.

The sad thing is that people will still vote for them because they feel that they, including her, are the 'safe' choice. It amazes me how close the race is with these candidates.

And how much American pop culture/manufactured consent has changed the tone of the debate from "who is best prepared to lead this nation" to "who do I think is likelier to be my buddy?"

Bitch.

She is face to face for a little bit, while in her home. I know, I'm watching it. However, Charlie has lost his balls and is soft balling questions to allow her to dig her way out of any holes. Apparently as governor, lobbyists and earmarks are okay; but she's determined to help end them when they take office(read: Democratic earmarks.) Not to mention that she doesn't seem to think that girls giving birth to their FATHER'S babies is better than ending the pregnancy. So, again. BITCH, BITCH, BITCH, BITCH, BITCH, BITCH, BITCH, I HOPE YOU GET RAPED AND SUFFER.

I know we've talked about this at length already, but I'm mentioning this here since I've seen her lackeys doing it in interviews throughout the weekend. Namely, she/they are asked a question about, say, her foreign policy experience and the immediately begin ranting about her ties to energy companies and how Obama refuses to acquiesce to McCain's "fair and open" (the "my ass" is silent and invisible) town hall scheme.

As if either the fact that she's in bed with Big Oil or McCain's water-under-the-bridge attempt to fuck over Obama have anything to do with the issues, let alone the questions their campaign is being asked...
