Egads. What a thing to wake up to.
PS: Isn't it funny how good ole Bush refers to Hugo Chavez as a dictator and Musharraf as an ally and democrat? Just saying...
That will be all.

on 2007-12-27 04:58 pm (UTC)Bush is playing his cards... at least Chavez obeyed the last referendum.
It's a shame, I liked the strong image of Benazir Bhutto. Really, RIP.

on 2007-12-27 09:11 pm (UTC)Even now, the U.S. media is trying so hard to portray Musharraf as "our friend"...even to the extent of preemptively excusing any dictatorial measures he might "have" to take in the wake of this crisis. And Bush's whole minute of condolences was really inspiring too. By which I mean, disgusting.

A top Russian diplomat said the killing could trigger a wave of terror in the country. "An act of terror is a bad sign," Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Losyukov, Russia's top Asia diplomat, said.
"We hereby offer our condolences. This will for certain trigger a wave of terrorism."
US officials said they were "looking into" reports of Bhutto's death.
"It demonstrates that there are still those in Pakistan who want to subvert reconciliation and effort to advance democracy," deputy State Department spokesman Tom Casey said.
Call me cynical, but the Bush government saying they're looking into something means they're most likely planning to ignore it.
edited to fix small error.

You better believe it. The most popular political figure, who incidentally threatened the continued existence of the dictator our government supports, assassinated? Yeah, the Bushies are gonna give this all the attention they'd give to some cow pats out on the ranch...
