Seeing as I'm going to be on a business trip in Shiga prefecture for six days next week, and since a three day weekend precedes said business trip, I decided to head down to the Kansai area for the duration. (I can justify this by the fact that I would have had to get up at 6 am to make it to the conference on the day of, but need only leave 20 minutes beforehand from Kyoto-fu.)

I spent all of yesterday wandering around Kyoto, which is perhaps my favorite city in Japan. I spent over two hours at Kennin-ji, which has now become my favorite Buddhist temple in the country; more on this later.

Today I find myself wandering about in Namba, stalling on buying a new computer. (My old one gave up the ghost a little over two weeks ago.) There are a lot of sweet, sweet machines out there, but they are expensive and use the Japanese keyboard, which I still dislike, even after all these years. Plus there is the issue of getting it and the old machine back home. And the fact that I am going to have to buy a car sometime within the month.

But, overall, good times.

That will be all.
