Brilliant, but evil
Oct. 27th, 2003 03:32 pmMy 選択 class is currently writing speeches on Japanese customs, which they will deliver to me next week. Earlier, I asked my JTE if there was anything I could do to prepare for the class; she said no.
As we're walking to said class, she pops out with, "I'd like you to give a five-or-so-minute speech on Halloween in Japanese. Um, crap.
But thanks to many, many prior speech-fakinggiving experiences in 悪魔先生's class, I pulled it off pretty well. I was a little pissed at the time.
Now I realise it for what it was - brilliance. This teacher just pulled a fast one on my that demonstrated to the class that one can speak a language imperfectly but still make oneself understood.
And it wouldn't have worked if I'd been clued in. The jokes on me. :-)
