We don't serve your kind around here
Mar. 11th, 2006 06:51 pmDear broad at the beauty salon:
If you don't feel up to cutting Western hair, say as much. Your honesty will be appreciated over claiming that the salon is closed when there are still three hours to go according to the hours clearly posted outside the door, and especially when the large English-language OPEN sign is hanging on the door at eye level.
Furthermore, if I address you in grammatically correct (albeit accented) Japanese, please feel more than free to respond in the same. There is no need for frantic gesturing at the clock while making inarticulate grunting sounds after I have clearly demonstrated my ability to speak your language.
Bitch.
I often think this job is making me hate Japan. Then I realise it's only making me hate the ignorant backwater hicks who aren't intelligent or courageous enough to get into a good college and get the fuck out of here.
That will be all.

on 2006-03-13 06:58 am (UTC)I'm not sure whether I hate the monkey gestures or the half-hour 'Where are you from? Do you speak Japanese? Oh, really. I like apples. Do you like apples? What sports do you like? How many members in your family' "conversations" I have with people at internationalization events.
