Japan is big on 'Seasonal Food'
Nov. 7th, 2005 10:07 pmThis means that your favorite candy, lunchmeat, alcohol, or fruit may only be available for one to two months out of the year. My favorite seasonal food is this. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you

Rummy.
As the name suggests, Rummy is a chocolate bar filled with actual alcohol and raisins. It also happens to be the schiznit. I await its yearly reappearance with much anticipation (and have remarked on it before). In fact, I don't consider the year complete until I've hooked one or two unsuspecting gaijin on the love that is the Rummy.
As evidenced by the picture above (the work of a 35-hour period), it is truly both an addiction and a way of life.
That will be all.

on 2005-11-07 08:18 pm (UTC)My seasonal treat is the gingerbread latte from Starbucks. It only comes out in November and December, and every year I start asking for it around October 15. ^_^
(It came out last week! I had two.)

on 2005-11-08 12:27 am (UTC)Come to think of it, America does have seasonal food - Xmas cookies, Thanksgiving food, Easter candy - but Japan does it all the freaking time and doesn't need a holiday to justify it.
Have another gingerbread for me. I miss the stuff!
