I'd made plans last month for a weekend in Fukuoka with the lovely [livejournal.com profile] takadainmate and [livejournal.com profile] cienna. I took the nenkyuu, sweating bullets all the while. (Needlessly, I might add - My old place of employment: You want vacation? What internal organs can you sell us? My new place of employment: You want vacation? Just say when!) I bought tickets to Niigata and was in the process of making hotel arrangements in that fine city.

Surprise!
My supervisor approached my desk yesterday afternoon. "Um, remember about your vacation?"

"Yes," I said cautiously.

Well, wouldn't you know it, but a previously TBA JET seminar was scheduled to neatly coincide with my flight to Fukuoka.

Thus began the process of discerning whether [livejournal.com profile] takadainmate had paid for my ticket (she had), what I've got to do to cancel it (with luck, I won't), and the returning of my train tickets to Niigata.

Muddling through the above processes, it begins to register that my supervisor is on the phone discussing large sums of money. Oh no, I think. This can only be concerned with me. As, alas, it was.

Surprise, surprise!
I'd arranged for the cessation of payment on my phone line, Internet connection, gas, water, sewage, and electric utilities, cancelled my video rental card and set up my mail forwarding at the post office before moving out of the Oaks. My supervisor (who you may remember is prone to episodes of asshatery) was in charge of my lease, because the incoming ALT was set to occupy my apartment on the day I left and I was not allowed access to the lease itself.

Well, what do you know? The woman failed to do her job, and three months' rent (about $1,500) was automatically deducted from my bank account.

My current supervisor, sweetheart that she is, immediately set about making things right. This woman is such a doll that she fills forms out for me, when she knows full well that I can do them myself. Anyway, Oaks supervisors swear that successor has deposited his portion of July's rent into my account via bank transfer; I swear that they haven't.

I'm told to wait until today to update my passbook and see the light.

Except I was, once again, right, and successor hasn't paid me.

Luckily, after running through three (three!) sets of bank transfer request documents in order to get my name written exactly as it is on the passbook, preparation is complete and the money will be returned to me.

Thank goodness my old landlords were honest.

おいヴェイ, as they (would) say in Japan.

That will be all.
