I placed an order with amazon Japan in February. The order consisted of three Japanese books, three imported books (Yay, Garth Nix!) and HP and the Halfblood Prince. I told amazon Japan to hold the shipment until all the books were ready to ship. I have waited five months - close to half a year - to have these books in my hot little literature-loving hands. Finally, finally, the time drew nigh. HBP will be released in two days. Today, I received a notice from amazon stating that all my books had been shipped except for Harry Potter, which will be shipped after it's released. I must now pay two times the shipping for these books, which I could have had in February, had I wanted them to be shipped as they became available. So what's the point of making me wait five months and then sticking me with double the charge two days before they could be sent as a single shipment, hmm?

C'est Japan.

That will be all.

That sucks.

I must now pay two times the shipping

As you requested the books be shipped together, and they split the order, then I believe they have to wear the costs of the extra shipping. Check up on it and argue the point. There's no reason why you should pay for their stuff-up.

and in a bizarre twist, I've just read a post on fandom_wank where someone claims to have received their copy of HP from amazon.jp. WTF?

Maybe you'll receive yours with the current shipment.
