on 2005-02-07 06:28 am (UTC)Korean is next on the slate - but the only proficiency tests for it are in Japanese. Not sure I could handle the double whammy at the moment!

I've heard just a little bit about the kanji kentei -- would be very interested in hearing more if you decide to pursue it. The levels beyond the traditional JLPT resemble the upper stratosphere to me... one has heard of them, but few mortal beings have penetrated them. ;-)
Will this mean more pretty yen notes in your new job? Now go get drunk!

on 2005-02-07 03:49 pm (UTC)You're correct - maximum gore is good. I'll try to make more of a mess with the next exam;)
Well, there is another proficiency test that goes way beyond 1kyuu, supposedly. I'm on a work puter now, but I can dig the link up for you when I'm back home. It's offered 5 times a year and is only $20 to take, which is good. Thing is, there aren't any study/information guides for it, and I'm not sure how widely recognised it is.
I've glanced at the kentei books in the bookstore - there is some pretty obscure stuff in there. I'll get you the website for those too.
Unfortunately, no more yen notes will be available here, and I have five classes this morning, so no drunkeness. But I'll be hanging w/ a fellow 2kyuu taker this weekend, and then the wine will flow;)
