Reading through your translations, something just occurred to me.
The Shigeka family is a family that exists for the Sanome. Only Shigeka women can make Sanome appear.
So I'm guessing it was never stated how they make Sanome appear? Not like giving birth to them or anything? Because if it was so, that would make Rakan and Narushige of the same family, wouldn't it? And Rakan being male himself would also be considered an ill omen.
I'm guessing it's highly unlikely, but the possibilities intrigue me. ^^
In retrospect, all we know of the Sanome so far is that they have the power to make plants grow. But in saying that the Shigeka family makes Sanome appear, the latter sound like they were created sporadically, which would make sense if, like Chigusa, everyone else considered them tools.
But if Sanome can have children, like Rakan's mom, then there has to be a lineage of sorts which exists.
...or Rakan could just be a very special case, and not because he's apparently the only surviving Sanome at the moment. Which is more likely the case.
