Because I saw it on
sara_tanaquil's lj and it looked cool, here is 2008 in retrospect, brought to you by my first lj posts of each month.
1月
Quoting directly from Alan Dupont's East Asia Imperilled:
There follows an improbable story about power stations and earthquakes. I thought it was funny, at least.
2月
Happy Brighid's Day...
...to those who celebrate such things.
3月
Yes, I'm behind again. But only because one of these books was so gadawful bad that I needed some time to recover before I could confront it again.
It was a horrible book, but alas, far from the worst I'd read in 2008.
4月
Including two novels and a poetry collection.
5月
Finals, and I'm behind again. But I'll be caught up soon.
Something tells me this'll pretty much be it from here on out.
6月
Only two English-language books this week, because I spent most of it reading every volume of Saiyuki available in the house, after which I started in on some other random manga.
Saiyuki. It's like herpes, in a way.
7月
Work is a whole 'nother story, and last weekend is a tale unto itself.
Ah, the Ambassador snafu. It's gonna take some more time before it becomes an amusing story for me to tell as opposed to flashback to hell.
8月
I think this probably makes me, like, the Antichrist or something...
...I got off my butt and saw The Dark Knight tonight.
I remain fully underwhelmed. At least the parodies are good.
9月
Yes.
THIS.
Oh, Joe Biden. Thank god the McCain camp chose someone with your verbal gaffs on a powerup for their veep pick.
10月
I read six books from September 15-21. It was also the week during which I moved back to Japan; thus the lateness of this post.
Yup. I moved back to Japan in September. But you'd never know it from the posts, eh?
11月
Just popping in to say...
GO OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!
That was me in the first floor lounge, streaming election coverage over the net like an addict.
12月
Delayed for 紅葉. I'll post this week's round-up tomorrow, but in the meantime, ( here's the book I read last week.
No Internets at home meant no obligatory 紅葉 picspam, but I did go, and there were pictures.
That will be all.
