You are all wildly jealous of me
Jun. 8th, 2006 10:20 pmOr at least some of you will be, when you learn that I had 5th row seats Tuesday night to see Onmyoji's own Abe no Seimei performing kyogen. Man, he's beautiful. He was the lead act in Chidori, followed by his father and uncle in Kogarakasa, which I'd actually seen performed two years ago as an opening act to some actual noh Noh. Needless to say, Tuesday night's performance was much more interesting, for obvious reasons.
* Other random observations:
* He absolutely looks like a fox (NPI) even when he isn't trying.
* They must have white face-powdered the heck out of him for Onmyoji, cause he's got one of the ruddiest complexions of any Japanese person I've ever seen.
*Proper outdoor Noh stages are much better than indoor ones, but it can be hard to hear the lines over all the bullfrogs.
* His uncle has a smile like ODB. Flouride, where were you in Japan's hour of need?
* I may actually have understood more of the dialogue than many of the Japanese guests I knew, and I owe it all to you, racy period novels!
* If you attempt to SKWW (see kyogen while white) people will want to know why you are there. Urgently.
That will be all.
