Last week I double checked possible departure dates with my boss, determining that I would be able to head home for Christmas vacation on the 15th. This is good, because I'll be able to get non-stop return airfare for well under $900.

Today, I was informed that the earliest I'd be able to leave is the 22nd. The reason? I've been scheduled to TEACH ENGLISH to 3 year olds for half an hour on the 19th, TEACH ENGLISH 3-5 year olds on the 20th, and TEACH "simple ENGLISH conversation" to 70+ seniors on the 21st.

This means that I will be leaving on a Japanese holiday, hiking up the cost of airline tickets considerably.

This also means that I will likely be returning home a day before Christmas, which means that I will miss baking cookies, buying the tree and decorating it.

Furthermore, this means that I will be jetlagged for Christmas itself.

It means that I won't have time to visit my grandparents or friends before I have to get back (January 3rd) so that I can TEACH ENGLISH bright and early in the new year.

It also means that I will be paying double what my original tickets would cost to stay one half the amount of time...which means that I most likely cannot afford to go home at all for Christmas this year, since I have to buy a fucking car on my own money in order to TEACH ENGLISH at the city's elementary school, hospitals, nursery schools, senior citizens' centers, day car centers, international societies...

This following on the heels of yesterday's coversation, which actually got me excited about my job again.

Today? Well, I'd have walked out on the spot this morning if that wasn't the same as throwing any future work visa sponsorships over a very large cliff.

That will be all.
