Ho.Oly crap
Jun. 22nd, 2005 03:13 pmOne of the main reasons I haven't been online so much recently? My school has devolved into gladatorial institution, with yesterday as the true show stopper.
Right after the post of yesterday, the student continued to shove the teacher around for a bit longer, hollering about discrimination and unfair treatment, before dashing out into the hallway where he resumed brawling with another student (he'd been brought into the staff room to break up this earlier fight).
You could hear them screaming as if they were in the staff room itself. Then one of the Enforcers rushed into the staffroom. 「わりと身体が大きい先生廊下へ行ってください!」 ("I need every decently-sized teacher in the hallway now!")
About eighty other students - four homerooms worth - had got in on the action in the hallway. It literally took all 50 teachers in the staff room to break the fight up. The original two kids were still going, and did it ever suck when I saw who it was, because they were two of my favorite students - kids who understand irony and sarcasm and can be counted on to make funny comments that keep their classes interested in my lessons.
They were dragged back into the staff room, where the fight continued for another twenty minutes or so while I tried to keep my head down.
This comes on the heels of last Thursday, where I was left for half a class period trying to manage an entire wing of 2nd years myself after nine of the boys started brawling. (No mean feat considering the 2nd years have a tendency to throw things and climb out of windows.)
The next day a group of 2nd year boys surrounded and beat one of their female classmates. The Monday after that a 3rd year attacked a teacher in the hallway between periods. Today another couple of students got into a shouting match with one of the science teachers in the hallway.
This is apparently more like the way my school was before I worked here two years ago. My job transfer to Bumbleville is not looking so bad right now.
That will be all.
