And here we have the oft-promised translation of Silver Diamond Chapter III. All the usuals apply - don't take/distribute without my permission, the manga proper is owned by Sugiura Shiho (to whom I'd be married in a perfect world), etc. etc.

And for your viewing pleasure, Silver Diamond: Chapter III )

Can I take this opportunity to mention how much I adore Sugiura? Her characters are just so wonderful (and wonderfully realised). I lurrrv Chigusa's calm acceptance, Rakan's heated politeness, and Narushige... oh Narushige. He is shaping up to be my replacement Shien fix. And Kou is a riot.

The thing that interests me the most about this chapter is fact that it's so obviously the outline for the entire series. Sugiura's not even trying to disguise the plot and eventual ending, yet I still want to read it (and hope she manages to stretch it into another half decade/25-or-so tankoubon). Getting there is half the fun, as they often say.

That will be all.

I'm currently working my way through Michael Moore's Dude, Where's My Country, which thankfully was released in a relatively inexpensive international version. (I've paid the equivalent of $40.00 for paperbacks that would cost $15.00 in the States.)

Anyway, I love reading Michael Moore because he basically states a lot of stuff I already know. This is nice because a) it makes me feel like less of a raving college graduate to hear someone else saying it (aka I'm Not The Only One!syndrome), b) it's nice to know that it's possible to maintain your liberal ideals decades after graduating college, c) it's nice to know that someone has a sense of humor about this bullshit, and d) it's really nice to know that while I may make the same complaints to my circle of friends, Michael Moore's doing it in a book that will reach millions.

So, as I said, I was already aware of a lot of what Moore is writing about. But some of it is like a fucking sock to the gut. Dead Peasants Insurance? Dead Peasants Insurance??? I knew disney was evil but Jesus H Fucking Christ... I was actually, physically breathless after reading that...

That will be all.

One of my students just approached me out of the blue and asked, "Do you have my life?"

Biting back the voice which longed to respond, I haven't been deified - yet, I said, "I'm sorry?"

"Do you have my life notes?"

It was at this point that I realised he was talking about his academic diary, in which I inscribe small English comments every day or so.

"Do you have my life?" indeed. That day will come...

That will be all.
