Words cannot express how utterly galled I am by the election results. I know there are plenty of fundamentalists in America - I went to school in the bible belt; this doesn't come as news to me. What amazes me is that these people care so little for human life - be it American, Iraqi, Afghani, the lives of reproductive-age women, the lives of people with Alzheimers and other diseases, the lives of the poor - that they are willing to put this man back into office. And make no mistake, it was most certainly the fundamentalist vote that backed bush.

Those who voted for bush are willing to overlook the lies, the smug self-assurance, the complete disconnect from reality, the fact that the man in charge of the most powerful nation on earth has openly admitted that he does not value knowledge, and give him carte blanche to do to our nation, and to a certain extent, the world, what he will.

American voters have told bush "Fuck up as much as you like! We'll reward you for it!"

If I sound personally insulted, I am. I was raised to believe that intelligence, hard work, honesty, compassion, and appreciation of difference are the keys to a success. Bush is ignorant. Bush has never had to work for anything in his life. Bush is not honest, nor is he compassionate. Bush is a recovering alcoholic who fears what he does not understand. And we as a country have just rewarded him for those traits.

"I know. He's a little backwards, but I voted for him because I'm concerned about small government!"

You're concerned about 'small govenment?' Tell me, how is the Patriot Act 'small government?' Sure looks like omnipresent government to me. No one's liberty is being protected here, unless by 'protect' you mean 'we're going to take it away ourselves before the terrorists(?) get the chance.'

To all the liberals who couldn't be bothered to get off of your asses and vote, fuck you. You lost us this election. This is your fault, even moreso than it is the fault of the conservatives. Look how close the results were. Look how little it would have taken to tip the scales in the other direction. This is your doing. Your votes would have made the difference. Hope you enjoy the next four years. You handed them to us.

I have more to say, but it can wait. This is enough bile for one lj entry.

That will be all.
