I'm still in shock. I mean, really. It's like, every time I see that man, something unexpected happens. First black president who, within his first nine months, won the Nobel Peace Prize? Yes please. And they didn't even wake him up to tell him! How would you like to get out of bed and find out you have a prize like that?

Seriously, the only reason I believed it when a (fellow Eastern Hemisphere) friend told me is because I trust this person like few others. And even then, I still had to check the Japanese newspaper homepages before I fully believed it.

Dude, I'd even take getting out of bed and find out something 1/1,000th as awesome as that.

It seems like I'm finding out all the big news these days from Facebook. I'll log on in the morning and see someone's status, then I'll have to check it out myself, usually through AP News or something. Found out about Michael Jackson the exact same way. @__@

I don't think Obama was like, "Damn guys, I don't need this kinda news in the morning!" when he heard he got the prize. I bet, just like the rest of us, his face was just o__0. I mean, jeez, what could even be 1/1000th as awesome? Being six years old and finding out you're getting a pony? Can't even imagine it!

Don't worry so much about the essay, no pressure! Though if you don't mind, can I e-mail you some questions about grad school? I'm starting to have doubts and I really need someone to talk to about it. @__@

And two days later, let me just say I think it's really sad how many people are questioning whether he "deserved" the award. As if suddenly the Nobel can only be awarded for concrete results, and not initiatives.
