American Pie is all the good things of its genre, with far less nudity. You want real crap, try the teen hijinks movies from the late 70s on.

As for a book not being turned into a movie - that'll never happen. Someone will (and has) read a sentence or two and twist it so far from the original that they're completely unrelated, yet still give it the same title.
